PARENTS Guidelines

The Holy Child Athletic Association would like all parents or guardians to adhere to the rules/guidelines listed below.   Parents or guardians will be required to sign at the bottom of this page to acknowledge that he or she has read and understands what is expected of them.

  1. All parents or guardians will refrain from using profanity.

  2. All parents or guardians will refrain from verbally or physically attacking or berating a referee.

  3. All parents or guardians will refrain from verbally or physically attacking or berating a Coach of Holy Child or any other team in the diocese.

  4. All parents or guardians will refrain from verbally or physically attacking parents or players from opposing teams.

  5. No parent or guardian is permitted to approach a coach in regards to issues regarding the coaches playing of their child or any other child on the team or as it relates to coaching techniques used during a game.   This rule is not to discourage casual conversations about the game rather to eliminate the editorial comments being issued to coaches.

  6. If a parent or guardian has an issue with a coach or assistant coach at Holy Child then that parent or guardian should request to meet with the Athletic Board to discuss and resolve this issue.  It is within the right of the Board to determine if the issue being brought before them is deemed of a nature to require disciplinary action to a coach or assistant.  IT IS NOT WITHIN THE RIGHTS OF A PARENT TO MAKE THIS DETERMINATION.

  7. If a child is absent from school (except for a school-sponsored functions) or leaves school  on an early dismissal for any reason, he or she may not participate in practice or a game that evening.

It is the right of the Holy Child Athletic Board in conjunction with the parish pastor, to remove a player or players from a team if a parent or guardian violates any of the above rules.

STUDENTS Guidelines

The Holy Child Athletic Association would like all student athletes to adhere to the rules/guidelines listed below.

  1. All student athletes will refrain from using profanity.

  2. All student athletes will refrain from verbally or physically attacking or berating a coach of holy Child or any other team in the diocese.

  3. All student athletes will refrain from verbally or physically attacking parents or players from opposing teams.

  4. All student athletes will treat their teammates with respect and courtesy.

  5. All student athletes will show good sportsmanship.

  6. All student athletes must provide parental or guardian permission slips as well as physical forms in order to participate.

  7. All student athletes will treat all equipment and property with respect and care.

  8. If a child is absent from school (except for a school-sponsored function) or leaves school on an early dismissal for any reason, he or she may not participate in practice or a game that evening.

It is the right of the Holy Child Athletic Board in conjunction with the parish pastor, to remove a player or players form a team if any of the above rules are violated.

COACHES Guidelines

The Holy Child Athletic Association would like all head coaches as well as assistant coaches to follow the rules/guidelines listed below.  Coaches will be required to sign at the bottom of this page to acknowledge that he or she has read and understands what is expected of them.

  1. All coaches are responsible for teaching the participants about good sportsmanship.

  2. All coaches will treat the student athletes with respect.

  3. All coaches will refrain from using profanity.

  4. All coaches are to report any incidents with parents or players to a member of the Athletic Board immediately.  An incident refers to any situation in which the conversation escalated into either a shouting match or someone was threatened.

  5. All coaches will refrain from verbally attacking or berating a referee, opposing coach, student athlete, or parent. 

  6. All coaches, to the best of their ability, should attempt to play every player in every game.  However, it is within a coach's prerogative to determine if this is achievable, given the circumstances of each situation.  It is however, mandatory, that if an underclassman participates in a game then every upperclassman must participate.  (i.e., if a 5th grader plays in a soccer game then every 6th grader must participate).

  7. All coaches must have a completed Act 33/34 clearance to assume the role of coach.

  8. All coaches must review the tape provided to the Holy child School by the Diocese of Pittsburgh.

  9. All coaches will be provided with a copy of the rules as provided to the school by the Diocese of Pittsburgh.

  10. If a child is absent from school (except for a school-sponsored function) or leaves school on an early dismissal for any reason, he or she may not participate in practice or a game that evening.

It is the right of the Holy Child Athletic Board in conjunction with the parish pastor, to remove a head coach or assistant coach if they believe that said coach has violated any of the above rules.
